About Dr. Melsjan Shkullaku

Dr. Melsjan Shkullaku is a highly-skilled cardiologist who is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He specializes in treating valvular and structural heart disease through both traditional and cutting-edge trans-catheter therapies. As part of the University of Maryland Medical Center's multidisciplinary structural cardiovascular disease program, he closely works with cardiac surgeons to provide the best possible care for his patients. In addition, he has expertise in treating patients with complex coronary artery disease and cardiogenic shock. Dr. Shkullaku is an Albanian-born physician who emigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 11. He completed his undergraduate degree at Siena College and earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He then continued his training at the University of Maryland, where he completed his internal medicine residency, cardiovascular fellowship, interventional cardiology, and structural cardiology. Additionally, he earned a Master of Business Administration through the University of Maryland System. He is passionate about providing quality care to the Maryland community and is honored to continue serving as a part of the University of Maryland System. In his free time, Dr. Shkullaku enjoys spending quality time with his wife, two daughters and dog. He also has a love for the outdoors, coaching his daughters' soccer teams, and being involved in community activities throughout Maryland.
